Skincare Discovery

During my teen year, I never really care much about my skin. Back then I would buy any cleanser and cleanse my face two or three times a day to remove the oil from my face. Not to mention, I don’t even know makeup remover does exist. As to remove my makeup I will cleanse and scrub my face really hard with a cloth or tissues to finish up my routine. Now to think back, how much damage I’ve done to my skin and I thought it was clean enough.

It was last year I started my so-called a proper skincare journey. Why? Because it’s the year where my cheeks first time experiencing breakouts to a point I’m freak out about it. I do have pimples on my nose and forehead area all the time but compare to my cheeks I’m more scared about that.

It all happened after trying some samples that I got from the brand L’Occitane. When I first use it, my skin feels so smooth and hydrated but the texture was quite oily when applied though. After a week of using it, I noticed some pimples started to show up on my cheeks. Of course, in the beginning, I’m not sure what the cause was, but thanks to the internet help me to finally figure out it was the samples all along which I added into my routine. Don’t get me wrong, I really love their brand especially their perfumes collections but I think only their skincare line is not suitable for me.

So it was then too I’m curious to try out the Korean skincare line and their routine. I guess you’ve heard about the 10-steps routine where products are layered step by step into the skin. I’m not an expert at it but I manage to learn how the sequence goes. When applying the product, everything according to their thickness and texture which watery comes first before the heavier one. It’s easier for me to remember that way.

That’s why just doing skincare can be quite complicated especially getting to know about the type of essences, toners, moisturizers, serums and so on.

So here’s the list of my first purchased from the Korean skincare line:

  • Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
  • Cosrx Oil-Free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion
  • Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner
  • Cosrx Low PH Goof Morning Gel Cleanser
  • Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
  • Heimish All Clean Balm
  • Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Masks

The reason why I choose to pick the Cosrx brand as my first try was because they are known to have minimal and simple nice ingredient list. I bought everything from Hermo (an online shopping site for beauty in Malaysia) with the total cost of RM415.94. Some of their product prices has reduced from before. The Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner was RM49, now it’s only RM38.

Learning about the Korean product was fun journey even now, but sometimes I didn’t do the 10-steps routines, just with cleansing, toner, essence, eye cream, and moisturizer is good enough for my skin. Unless I want to pamper my skin and have the mood for that then I will incorporate clay mask or sheet mask into my routine.

Wonderful! I love finding new skin care products. I swear I buy at least 3 new ones a month! I have yet to try a full Korean beauty regime but I may just have to try it out! Summer always makes me break out because I go from slathering lotion on to keep my skin moisturized to it being unbearably oily! Great share!

I love Korean beauty products! I’ve actually tried quite a few of the ones on your list. Their cleanser is really gentle and creates such a lovely lather on the skin without stripping it of moisture. Hope you continue to find great products on your skincare journey! A few recommendations for when you’re looking to explore some more: Klairs Supple Preparation Toner, Missha Time Revolution Essence, Banila Clean it Zero balm. Enjoy!
